Michael Hunt’s career began at the young age of 17 while still a student at Louisiana State University. Before and after football games he would wheel a shopping basket around campus, selling from it copies of a poster he designed featuring the university’s mascot. More than 20 years later, that poster remains one of the most popular collegiate art prints ever created for any university.

This initial poster led to the formation of The Hunt Studio, a company devoted to the publishing and promotion of Michael Hunt’s artwork.

In the 22 years since, The Hunt Studio has grown into a unique company that facilitates the in-house distribution of all Michael Hunt designed/published art pieces. Michael refers to The Hunt Studio as “A Creative Company” because his creations are so diverse. Nowhere else could you find a line of Collegiate inspired lithographs being created alongside a portrait of the Pope.

Michael’s collectors are as diverse as his art. To some he is known as “The Mardi Gras Artist” due to his highly successful line of Mardi Gras posters beginning in 1987. To others he is known for his partnership with various celebrities to raise money for worthwhile children’s charities.

First and foremost Michael is a true “artist” constantly working to develop new directions for his art. While he has been blessed to receive a great deal of commercial success we must never forget that his original paintings are also  included in the collections of the White House,  the Vatican and have even been displayed in a worldwide retrospective of posters at the Louve in Paris.

Michael’s is a true success story that began with a shopping basket and a $10 poster.
